My #1 lesson

Sweet BabyCakes, there is a lot I hope to teach you in life. Today let's just start with the number one thing I hope, no pray, that you take away from having me as your mother.

My mother didn't know it.
I didn't know it.
I want you to listen closely...

NEVER GET A PERM!!!

It will not "control" your curly hair.

What it WILL do, however, is make it bigger.
Huge.
As in, "my perm ate my homework," HUGE.

In the 5th grade I looked like Cousin IT on roller skates. (But hopefully a little cuter.)
At least my hair helped cushion my (many) falls.

I am fully aware that you will curse me for your curly hair when you are 12 and thank me around age 20.
I'm okay with that.
Really, I've been there.
You can cut it, straighten it, color it, whatev.

Just never.

Ever.

Perm it.

Yes, you were right when you said I should tell Emma the same thing. Love the pics of BabyCakes - she is such a cutie :)

That is hilarious!! I had a perm around 5th grade too. It was bad...... what were we thinking???? As of now Audrey may need a perm if she wants curl, her hair is flatter than a flitter. But I do hope she is content with her straightness, perms are bad....so so bad.....
Oh and I want to see your 5th grade pic :-)

I blame our mothers for the perms.
It was bad. Remember how bad they smelled, too? Ick.

P.S. I hope everyone knows me well enough to know that I'm not so shallow that perms are actually my #1 concern for BabyCakes.

Oh and I have no pictures! Well, I'm sure my parents do...

I always wanted curly hair. You know how it goes, you always want what you can't have. I also wanted to be blonde....until just recently. I have decided to love my dark dark dark hair, even if it makes me look very pale pale pale.
