Happy Valentine's Day!

My sweeties brought me tulips and chocolate home from the store on Friday so I could enjoy them all weekend.
J knew I would prefer these gorgeous tulips over red roses. He said BabyCakes was the one that wanted me to have the Hershey Kisses and there may or may not be only 3 left this morning .

I mean come on, how gorgeous are these?

Speaking of gorgeous :) -- here's a short video of BabyCakes walking this morning. She even has a heart-covered sleeper for you. (For my email recipients, you have to go to my actual blog to see the video. Click on "Justacurl" at the bottom of your email.)

Happy Valentine's Day!

WW Wednesday

I hope everyone's doing well today. It is deceivingly beautiful outside here in NC. We even have snow showers in the forecast. Ehh...

Anyway, I had my Weight Watchers meeting and weigh-in today as usual. I even wore my new, smaller-sized jeans today instead of my light-weight "active pants." ( I don't do yoga, so I don't know how to refer to these cotton pants. I think you get my drift. They are staples in my mom uniform.) I had some new pink flats I really wanted to wear and -- okay, I'm rambling. On to the weigh-in: I was down. A nice amount that I could be proud of. :) It was a good week. I still haven't hit that 40-lb mark but that's okay. I will next week. :)

Lesson learned this week: Sometimes exercise can break a bad cycle of eating. Just changing things up can be more helpful than you expect.

Goal for the week: Just stay the course. Hopefully staying the course will help me get to that 40-lb mark!

P.S. On a side note, I hope that you all realize that the thing I hope to teach BabyCakes most is not ACTUALLY to stay away from perms. While that is important, it was a joke. :)

My #1 lesson

Sweet BabyCakes, there is a lot I hope to teach you in life. Today let's just start with the number one thing I hope, no pray, that you take away from having me as your mother.

My mother didn't know it.
I didn't know it.
I want you to listen closely...

NEVER GET A PERM!!!

It will not "control" your curly hair.

What it WILL do, however, is make it bigger.
Huge.
As in, "my perm ate my homework," HUGE.

In the 5th grade I looked like Cousin IT on roller skates. (But hopefully a little cuter.)
At least my hair helped cushion my (many) falls.

I am fully aware that you will curse me for your curly hair when you are 12 and thank me around age 20.
I'm okay with that.
Really, I've been there.
You can cut it, straighten it, color it, whatev.

Just never.

Ever.

Perm it.

The Girl's Curls

See, I told you it's not always a blonde explosion!

So tonight we are having crock pot lasagna. I got the recipe from my friend Melissa and when she shared with me that she cooked it for NINE hours because she didn't pay attention to how long it was supposed to take, I laughed at her.
Hard. Like mocked her.
I believe the statement "It's not an Easter Ham!" might have been said.

Anyway, I assembled the lasagne and turn it on high for an hour. Right before leaving for swim lessons I turned it down to Low.

Or so I thought.

Enter Cayce walking into a dark house, hungry and ready to eat.
"Interesting, I thought the house would smell like lasagne. I should see how the food looks. Hmmm... Why isn't the cheese melted?"

Yep, I turned the crock pot OFF.

Dinner FAIL.

Sorry, Melissa, I totally deserved that.

Oh and J if you are reading this, there's a good chance you will be having leftover beans and hotdogs tonight. Yep, you're a lucky, lucky man.

WW Wednesday

First of all, as I look back over my last post I see that my goal was related to exercise. That deserves a big fat "HA!" for the week. BabyCakes did what toddlers do best and got the whole house sick -- and I used that as the perfect excuse not to bike.

Anyway, I had a loss on the scale today. Not big but I didn't deserve a big loss, either. I did get down to the next weight "range?" though. Let's say a weight range is a 10-lb span like a decade in time. Make sense? If I were thin I would say something like "I'm now in the 120's!" To say that right now, though, I'd have to preface it with "I had an arm and a leg amputated, and now I'm in the 120's!"
Haha... sigh.

Lesson learned this week: You get what you earn.

Goal for the week: Add more activity, period. Also, as much as I hate to talk numbers, I'd really like to hit that 40-lbs-lost mark. I'm tired of the 30's.

P.S. I made two more sales this morning on etsy!

BabyCakes is walking!

Last night before putting her to bed, J and I were playing with BabyCakes in the living room.
We were facing each other and one time when I stood her up in front of me, she took the 5 steps required to walk to Daddy! She did it several times after that. Each time walking to one of us and then we would lift her up high saying "Yay, BabyCakes!"
I don't have a picture and when I got out the video camera she didn't want to do it again. Until I put the camera down, that is. :)
I will include a little (very shaky) video of when I attempted to catch her walking on camera, though. Just because I rarely take video.
You'll notice that she only has one sock on. I told J to take the one sock off before I started recording and he said we should "keep it real." :)
